Setting up Activate
Partners and categories
How partners enter the Activate registry, where categories and regions come from, and which partners briefs can use.
Partners and categories
Activate keeps one partner registry per engagement. Briefs pick partners from it, and partner metrics attach to it.
How partners get in
- From the strategy: partners named in the captured strategy can appear in the registry before any sync runs.
- From PartnerStack: each sync brings in the client's PartnerStack partnerships. A PartnerStack partner whose name matches a partner already in the registry is adopted, so a partner Alex recommended becomes the same record once the client signs them.
Until either happens, the Partners page reads "No partners yet".
Categories and regions
PartnerStack supplies neither a category nor a region. Both are Activate fields set by a person:
- Category values come from the priority segments in the Strategy baseline, which Riley built from its bottom-up categories.
- Region values come from the regions in the same bottom-up model.
If the baseline names no categories or regions, any value is accepted. A synced partner whose category falls outside the baseline raises a reconciliation issue: "Category is outside the captured Strategy baseline". See Partner reconciliation.
Which partners briefs can use
- Partners have a status of active, paused or invited, plus a PartnerStack lifecycle.
- Only current, active partners can be chosen on a new brief.
- Invited partners show "Numbers appear after they accept and the first sync completes."
- Archived and historical identities are kept for attribution and audit. They are hidden until someone uses Show archived identities.
Partner numbers are read-only
Leads, trials, activations and revenue for each partner come from PartnerStack. Neither you nor the client can edit them. If they look wrong, fix the data in PartnerStack and let the next sync, or a full reconcile, correct them.
